IEEE P400.5
IEEE Approved Draft Guide for Field Testing of Shielded DC Power Cable Systems Using High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC)
standard by IEEE, 03/08/2022
Full Description
Scope
This guide presents the recommended practices and procedures for direct voltage acceptance and maintenance testing of shielded power DC cable systems rated 5 kV and above in the field. It applies to all type of power cable that are intended for the transmission or distribution of electric power with DC voltages. The tabulated test levels assume that the cable systems have an effectively grounded neutral system or a grounded metallic shield.
Purpose
The purpose of this guide is to provide uniform practices and procedures for performing direct voltage acceptance and maintenance tests on shielded power cable systems in the field and to provide guidelines for evaluation of the test results.
Abstract
New IEEE Standard - Active - Draft. The recommended practices and procedures for direct voltage acceptance and maintenance testing of shielded, insulated power cable systems rated 5 kV and above for DC Service are presented in this guide. It applies to all types of power cable systems used for transmission of DC voltages and can include laminated or extruded cables designed for DC service. The tabulated test levels assume that the cable systems have an effectively grounded neutral system or a grounded metallic shield.
