CSA Preface
This is the seventh edition of CSA S136, North American Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members (NASPEC). It supersedes the previous editions published in 2001, 1994, 1989, 1984, 1974, and 1963. This edition is a harmonized Standard intended for use in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
A1.1 Scope
This Specification applies to the design of structural members cold-formed to shape from carbon or low-alloy steel sheet, strip, plate, or bar not more than 1 in. (25.4 mm) in thickness and used for load-carrying purposes in
(a) buildings; and
(b) structures other than buildings provided allowances are made for dynamic effects.
