This presentation examines the challenges of leading an organization to itsmaximum performance. The context is one of self-assessment and improvement, beginning with adiscussion of how readers may strengthen their own leadership skills. Thepresentation builds upon the leader's improved skills, and discusses how thoseskills may be leveraged to produce greater results from throughout theirorganization. The paper discusses how leaders must tolerate and embrace setbacks, so that they areperceived (and used) as incremental improvements, rather than as failures.The difficult balance between tolerance / embracement of setbacks, andpreservation of a commitment to high standards of excellence must bemaintained. The paper concludes with a discussion of how this may beaccomplished organizationally, and why the leader should commit to the effort. Includes 10 references.
