Journal AWWA - Innovative Design Overcomes Regulatory Constraints On Elevated Water Storage
Journal Article by American Water Works Association, 11/01/1981
Haven, Robert C.
Full Description
The Washington (D.C.) Suburban Sanitary Commission was delayed in constructing new potable water storage facilities because of adverse public reaction to the appearance of existing standpipes and elevated structures and local regulations requiring low-profile or subsurface storage facilities in the future. Design and construction of a landmark globe-tank depicting the earth as viewed from a satellite overcame public objections and regulatory constraints. Includes figure, photographs.
