Water utilities with water supply dams have the potential for developing hydropower, thereby assuring a nearly inflation-proof source of power and energy. The means used to convey the raw water to the water treatment plant will have a significant bearing on hydropower development, as will the size of the impoundment compared to the average streamflow. Daily power peaking, if permitted by the water supply requirements, can greatly increase the worth of hydropower development. Includes figures.
