For more than fifty years chloramines have been used at the Philadelphia Suburban Water Company's Pickering Creek water treatment plant in Pennsylvania. During this period chloramination reduced the coliform count in the raw water from values as high as 100,000 organisms/mL to nearly zero in the finished water. Includes 15 references, tables, figures.
