Journal AWWA - Acid Precipitation and Drinking Water Supplies
Journal Article by American Water Works Association, 03/01/1984
Reed, John S.;Henningson, John C.
Full Description
This article evaluates three major areas of concern: increased levels of heavy metals in raw water; biological imbalances in water supplies; and increased corrosivity of delivered water. Corrosive water is a widespread problem in the U.S., although the extent to which this corrosivity is related to acid precipitation is unknown. Suggested management practices include: increased restrictions on acid precursor emissions; treating affected reservoirs; corrosion control at the treatment plant; corrosion control in the distribution system; and active public information programs. Includes 26 references, tables, figures.
