Full Description
This slide presentation outlines a study concerning simulated disinfection byproduct (DBP) precursor removal using magnetic ion exchange resin in conjunction with existing technologies. The presentation outline includes:Background Material;Disinfection Byproducts (DBP's);Magnetic Ion Exchange Resin (MIEX);DBP Precursor Removal Comparison;Simulations of DBP Formation; and,Comparison of Processes. Conclusions were that: All Processes Showed Good Removal of NOM;Consistent Removal Regardless of ProcessConfiguration;Bromide Showed Limited Removal;Dependent on MIEX Dose and Pretreatment;Coagulation Pretreatment Removed Competing Ions(Carbonate Alkalinity and NOM) Increasing Bromide Capacity; All Process Simulations Suggested Good Removalof DBP Precursors;NOM-Based DBPs Consistent Removal;Related to Consistent NOM Removal; and,Bromate Reduction Dependent UponConfiguration's Ability To Remove Bromide Ion. Includes figures.
