Full Description
Two new technologies--the refiltration flocculation (REFIFLOC) process and the powdered activated carbon (PAC)-embedding filtration (PACEFILT) process--are applicable primarily to the removal of large quantities of flocculants and to the use of PAC filtration for the removal of organic micropollutants. The processes may be operated separately or combined to treat heavily polluted water that requires high dosages of chemicals. This article discusses development of these new techniques, criteria for their construction and operation, pilotand full-scale plants, and a test unit for determining the adsorbability of organic micropollutants. Includes 14 references, tables, figures.
