This standard is an American National Standard, as designated by the American National Standards Institute, and falls under the jurisdiction of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). This jurisdiction is exercised by the AWWA J100 Risk and Resilience Management Standards Committee. This standard is aligned with the intent of National Homeland Security Policy, including the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP), National Incident Management System (NIMS), and National Response Framework (NRF). This standard can be applied to the evaluation of risk and support risk reduction and/or resilience improvement in water and wastewater utilities. The J100 methodology may also enable the decision-makers in a wide variety of infrastructures, other facilities, and operational organizations. The same methodology has been successfully applied in settings as diverse as nuclear power plants, electricity distribution, roads and bridges, and emergency response dispatch.
