Greenhouses represent one of the most unique applications of solar energy collection, storage and use for production agriculture. A greenhouse can be maintained at high temperatures on sunny, cold winter days with no addition of fossil fuel energy. During cold nights, however, a highly productive greenhouse requires large amounts of fossil fuel to maintain the required plant temperature (typically l5°C).
