Full Description

Scope: This method provides for the accelerated laboratoryevaluation of the leachability of waterborne woodpreservatives expressed as a percentage of the originalpreservative retention. The small specimen size and highproportion of end-grain greatly accelerates leaching. Dataderived using this method may be useful for estimating thelong-term efficacy of preservative systems. This data is notintended to, nor shall it be used to predict potentialenvironmental impacts of treated wood in service. Thismethod is designed with waterborne preservatives in mind andmay not be applicable to other types of preservatives. Thistest method is intended to provide information forstandardization of protection treatments. It may also be usefulas a screening test.
