Bark Content in Wood Chips
standard by Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, 07/01/2002
Full Description
Several procedures are being used operationally for the measurement of the bark content of wood chips that will be used in the production of wood pulp. The procedures yield quite different estimates of bark content, and therefore give rise to misunderstandings which can be critical when the bark content of wood chips is considered in commercial transactions. Thus, this document will lay out a preferred procedure for determining bark content of wood chips, and will give alternative procedures that can be used when there are impediments to using the preferred procedure. It is most important that users of these procedures indicate exactly which procedure they are using.
